Do you remember where you were when you first watched Maison Valentino’s whimsical couture gowns draped around a diverse cast of models on the runway? Or the first time you were fascinated by the ethereal beauty of Pat McGrath, watching backstage at Valentino’s shows? Valentino’s commitment to inclusivity is reinforced with each passing runway season and campaign, which brings us to the house’s latest tip: Valentino Beauty.
Designed by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli, three words can best describe what will happen with Valentino Beauty: uniqueness, extravagance and experimentation. With experimentation being the key word here, Valentino Beauty will debut with 50 shades of foundation, 40 shades of lipstick and a host of “multi-purpose and multi-finish products, which speak of freedom of expression and the individuality that are at the heart of the brand because everyone is beautiful in their own way,” explains the brand. The lipstick and eye shadow palettes come in refillable cases that encourage users to mix and match according to their tastes.
Piccioli also came out of the chemist lab and behind the lens to shoot the upcoming campaign, which features 16 talents constituting each of the Valentino shades.
“Beauty is a complexity solved by love. Beauty is democratic. I look at the identity of each individual, the uniqueness which encompasses diversity and inclusiveness. Beauty is a matter of grace. Grace is something you can’t describe; it’s an approach. Beauty is something that gives me emotion. It’s a connection. For Make Up, my vision is Rosso Valentino 22, on the morph of 16 people” Piccioli said in a statement.
The full collection will be unveiled on May 31, ahead of its global launch in August 2021.
