With each new year comes an aspect of possibility and reinvention. This spirit is at the heart of the new Louis Vuitton x Urs Fischer collection, rightly launched on New Year’s Day. The capsule launch marries the vision of the contemporary Swiss artist with Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram logo for a complete new look.
Fischer is one of the only designers to have been authorized to modify the Maison’s motif since its inception. His iconic creations can be found in leather accessories, ready-to-wear clothes, shoes and seven special edition bags: a Keepall, Cabas, Onthego, two Neverfulls, Speedys, Pochettes Accessoires and a rigid beauty case. The collection is accessible in two color combinations, black and red or black and white. It marks hand-sketched varieties of Louis Vuitton’s initials and flowers, which Fischer calls “sketches from memory”.
Asked about his address to the capsule collection, Fischer spoke of his breathtaking inspiration. “It’s like asking different people to draw a map of the world from memory and then observe the various ways people interpret it,” he told in a statement.
This is Fischer’s second collaboration with the fashion house, following the 2019 Artycapucines bag, a limited-edition work of art where he designed hyper-realistic, hand-painted silicone fruit and vegetable pieces. hand to hang on the emblematic Capucines bag of the brand. For his latest Louis Vuitton production, Fischer is helping out with inventive storefronts, store fixtures, and campaign imagery, even high concept, as well as a partially animated film, which you can watch here.
