The new Creative Directors are Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne. The appointment was confirmed by the fashion brand today, with immediate effect.
Chow and Osborne are best known as the leading public school duo, for which they won the CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year award in 2014. They have also previously received the CFDA Fashion Fund award in 2013.
“It was an incredible journey. Today, DKNY is present from New York to London, from Hong Kong to Dubai, all with the authentic expression of this great city. Now is the right time for its evolution and I am so excited for the next chapter of this company working with this new creative team.”
The appointment of Chow and Osborne represents a whole new creative overhaul for the company, which will cover design, marketing, brand messaging and digital growth. The duo will oversee all DKNY collections, while continuing to create for the brand they founded.
“It is one of the brands that has helped to change the game for American fashion and for us. It evokes everything our city has always been: energy, rupture, new ideas and transcending all borders. We are extremely proud and excited to join the company and contribute to the next chapter of DKNY, one of America’s most iconic brands, created by truly inspiring Donna Karan.”
As part of the new creative structure, DKNY has also confirmed the appointment of Hector Muelas to the newly created position of Director of Image, who was previously Creative Director of Global Marketing at Apple Inc. He will be in charge of all areas of branding, marketing and digital platforms.
