A new series of podcasts draws the curtain on the lifetime of Salvatore Ferragamo. Before founding his self-titled Italian label, Ferragamo was an apprentice shoemaker and designer of the celebs. His journey from Italy to Hollywood and back is chronicled in a new 22-chapter podcast, Shoemaker of Dreams.
Based on Ferragamo’s own 1957 memoir of the same name, celebs such as Caitriona Balfe, Isabella Rossellini, Jessica Alba, Michelle Monaghan, Stanley Tucci and others interpret different periods of her life. In the years of his death in 1960, Ferragamo reflected on his experiences in fashion and more. His memories were then transcribed into the autobiography.
This is one of many recent projects to inspect the origins of Ferragamo’s history and its lasting legacy. The podcast released shortly before The Shoemaker of Dreams documentary premieres on September 6. Directed by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name), the document features appearances by director Scorsese and Ferragamo’s late wife Wanda Miletti. At the same time as these releases, Electa reissues the autobiography of the creator with a new book cover. Earlier this year, the brand posted a social media trivia game of important moments in Ferragamo’s history.
